David Goggins’ Challenge To Forge Iron Discipline

David Goggins is one of the hardest humans alive.

His mental game is bulletproof. Here's how you can start to forge iron discipline like him in 48 hours:

Who is David Goggins?

• Navy SEAL

• Ranger qualified

• USAF Tactical Air Controller

• 20-year military veteran

• 4030 pull-ups in 24 hrs

• 60+ ultramarathons

• certified badass

Here's David's challenge to forge discipline: The 4x4x48 Challenge

It's a 48-hour event in which you run 4 miles every 4 hours. This means you run 12 rounds for a total of 48 miles, close to a double marathon (2x26.2miles = 52.4miles).

Here's what you'll learn:

1. Your excuses are lies

Have you ever told yourself now is not the time?

This challenge forces you to get up in the middle of the night, lace up your running shoes and step onto the trail.

How much more can you accomplish when you stop listening to your excuses?

2. Mental control

Have you ever felt regret because you chose the easy way out?

No one is forcing you to do this. There are no spectators. It's easy to simply not do it.

But when you take action and forge a stronger version of yourself, you'll learn to control your mind.

3. Positive self-talk

Have you ever felt sorry for yourself?

Your feet will hurt, your legs will ache and you will be tired.

But what if you told yourself "I get to do this. I am so fortunate to be fit and healthy." Embrace discomfort and seek the positive.

4. Break up big challenges into bite-sized chunks

Have you ever felt overwhelmed by a big task?

Running 48 miles sounds daunting. Running 4 miles sounds doable.

Just focus on the next action. Get that done. Then focus on the next step. That's how you accomplish your big goals.

5. You can always do one more rep

Have you ever told yourself you've done enough?

9 runs in, you'll want to stop. But you've come this far, so you won't.

No matter what you tell yourself, you've got more in you. And your growth depends on pushing past your limits.

I did David's challenge last year when races were still cancelled due to Covid.

You can do this whenever you need to check your mental game.

You can do this any time, you got a spare 48 hours.

You can do this with your kids around (I did too).

You can do this.

How the 4x4x48 Challenge will help you forge discipline:

• You can always give more

• Break up big challenges

• Your excuses are lies

• Positive self-talk

• Mental control

You forge discipline when no one is looking and you still put in the work. What are you waiting for?
