How To Become Mentally Tough Without Falling For The Trap Of Toxic Masculinity

You’ve seen them. Those ‘masculine’ accounts lecturing us on how to be ‘real men’.

The danger with these accounts is the hord of young guys who believe that BS.

They spread ideas harmful to individuals and to society as a whole.

Their messages include:

• 'real men' don't show emotions

• 'real men' don't care what others think

• 'real men' set goals to crush everybody else

But this mindset often leads to the individual being depressed and others being harmed.

Not caring what others think of you is short-sighted.

Ignoring your emotions is a screwed-up way to live your life.

And only thinking about your goals without any consideration of the impact on others is dumb.

Young men should strive to be self-reliant, emotionally controlled and strong.

But their true value lies in being an asset to the people around them.

One way to do that is by becoming mentally tough. Here's how:

1. Clarify your Purpose

When you’re faced with obstacles, you’ll need to know your Why.

Then you’ll overcome whatever life throws at you.

2. Focus on your teammates

Life gets easier when you shift to helping your team rather than thinking of yourself.

They’ll do the same for you.

3. Invite adversity into your life

Seek out challenges, then when life gets tough, you’re prepared.

We don’t know when we'll be tested, but you can prepare yourself.

4. Get physically strong to become mentally tougher

Find an event you need to train for and commit to a plan.

Then execute it no matter the obstacles.

5. Shatter your limits

We often believe our own BS about having done enough.

Don’t listen to mediocrity. Push yourself to fulfil your potential.

True strength lies in becoming a sheepdog, not a wolf.
