How To Beat Procrastination
If you struggle with procrastination, here’s a 13-step guide to get you moving and crush your to-do list.
1. Get Organised
Start by writing down everything on your mind.
Then organise your thoughts.
Organise your digital space.
And your physical space.
2. Connect With Your Purpose
Make the link between your tasks and your bigger mission.
This will drown out your urge to procrastinate.
3. Set Goals
Work backwards. You know your purpose, now identify the goals you need to achieve to get you there.
Break those goals down into smaller manageable tasks.
4. Micro Tasks
When a task is too big, you won’t know how to start.
Break out the smallest next step. Do that.
5. Prioritize
Time-sensitive items need to get done first. Next, high-impact tasks.
Rank them and then, crush them one by one.
6. Set Deadlines
Some tasks have deadlines, if not, create them yourself.
Tasks with deadlines get done,
tasks without only linger.
7. Establish Routines
Build a ritual to access your work mode easily.
Same setup every day. Start with a some coffee and instrumental music.
Then when it is time to start, your brain already knows it’s work time. You won’t feel the need to procrastinate.
8. No notifications.
No matter which device, notifications are productivity killer.
Get rid of them.
9. Execute
It’s the hardest part.
So make it easy for yourself.
Follow the above advice, and get fired up about crushing your day.
10. Schedule Distractions
Being always switched on and busy destroys your creativity.
Give your mind time to relax.
But set a timer.
11. Be Accountable
Setting deadlines is great, but are you going to stick to them?
Tell people what you’re doing and when by.
12. Reward Yourself
When you get done with a task, especially a big one, reward yourself.
Having a reward waiting for you will help you get going, but also create positive link in your brain. Tasks = Rewards.
13. Let Go Off The Past
So you struggle with procrastination?
We all do.
Forgive yourself and build the life you deserve.
